Injection Snoreplasty Offered! A Less Costly Way to Cure Snoring!

We now offer a less costly alternative surgical procedure to significantly reduce and even cure snoring. This procedure is known as injection snoreplasty. This procedure is done under local anesthesia in our office and consists of a single injection into the palate right above the uvula. That's it! Approximately 70-80% of patients report significant improvement in snoring. 50% do require a second injection for maximum benefit.

Best of all, it is effective yet less costly than more expensive alternative surgical procedures to address snoring... less expensive than the Pillar Procedure (cost ~$1500), coblation palatoplasty (cost ~$1000), uvula excision (cost ~$500), etc.

New Video on the Sleep Study

A new video has been uploaded to our YouTube channel describing what exactly happens when you go to a sleep center to get a sleep study done. Sleep studies are often prescribed by your physician when there is some concern that a patient may have a sleep disturbance like obstructive sleep apnea. Snoring, apneas, morning headaches, daytime tiredness are some common symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea which may lead to higher risk of stroke, heart attacks, hypertension, and even death unless corrected.

Snoring Cure!

There are many reasons why a person snores. However, for many people, the snore is due to the vibration of an extremely long uvula. The uvula, for those who don't know, is the little dangly thing in the back of the mouth.

Removal of the uvula (if the snore is due to this structure), may result in the reduction and possibly elimination of a person's snore... permanently.

Health insurance will NOT cover this type of procedure as snoring is considered "cosmetic." As such, a patient will need to pay out-of-pocket to receive this treatment.

However, if snoring is due to a more serious underlying medical condition like obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), than insurance will pay for treatment according to established guidelines (sleep study confirmation of OSA followed by CPAP use for at least 3 months prior to any type of surgical intervention).

A new webpage has been created describing coblation palatoplasty which is used to treat snoring and mild obstructive sleep apnea. Some of the advantages of this procedure are:

1) Outpatient
2) No sedation needed
3) Takes 15 minutes to perform
4) Performed in an office-setting instead of operating room
5) Well-tolerated

The ideal patient to undergo this procedure are those with large and thick soft palates. As such, not all patients are candidates to undergo this innovative procedure.
